The challenge In this role you will lead the infrastructure team (located in NL&Germany). The team covers: Compute&Storage, Networking, and Workplace and operates in a rapidly growing international high-tech manufacturing environment, which is shaped by stringent security requirements. The environment spans both cloud-connected and stand‑alone systems, supporting critical operations across multiple locations.

You are part of the IT Leadership Team, reporting directly to the IT Director, and you play a key role in professionalizing the infrastructure organization and enabling it to scale internationally. You will also lead three project managers, ensuring that priorities are clear and that projects are aligned with the infrastructure roadmap and business needs.

This is not a traditional role to‘keep the business going’. You need to build, bring clarity, structure, and set the direction, where ways of working need to evolve, and where visibility and predictability are needs to be improved.

While the team size is relatively modest (12 FTE), the real challenge lies in the context: experienced engineers, established ways of working, and the need to drive change and alignment across countries and disciplines. Your impact will be in bringing structure to complexity and making the organization scalable and predictable.

Key responsibilities:

Lead the infrastructure team (NL&Germany), driving ownership and accountability

Guide experienced engineers through change, manage resistance to new ways of working

Create visibility in workload, priorities, and capacity across the team

Introduce structure and standardization in operations, moving away from ad hoc actions

Establish clear lifecycle management (hardware, storage, workplace, capacity planning)

Define and execute a scalable infrastructure roadmap (on-prem + cloud)

Ensure stable, always‑on infrastructure supporting critical business operations

Lead and prioritize infrastructure‑related projects (e.g. workplace renewal, storage upgrades, Windows 11 migration), ensuring alignment with the roadmap

Work closely with project management to determine priorities and sequencing based on roadmap impact and business needs

Align operations, projects, and leadership stakeholders across an international environment

Your profile

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field

10+ years in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role

Proven experience leading international / distributed teams

Strong ability to create structure, set priorities, and drive results in complex environments

Demonstrated success in leading teams through change and transformation

Solid understanding of infrastructure (on‑prem&hybrid cloud)

Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills

Builds ownership, coaches teams, and leads by example

Familiar with security frameworks (ISO27001, NIST or similar)

Strong in planning, execution, and budget control

Experience in industrial / manufacturing environments is a plus

Fluent in English; Dutch or German preferred

Willing to work in an international environment and travel when needed
