Endpoint Security Engineer, Utrecht

Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Senior Endpoint Security Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, and enterprise endpoint protection technologies. The role is responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and continuously improving endpoint security services to protect organizational assets while aligning with security best practices, compliance, and operational SLAs.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with SOC teams, infrastructure teams, and business stakeholders to ensure a strong and resilient endpoint security posture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Design, implement, and manage enterprise endpoint security solutions, including antivirus, EDR, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.

Configure, install, and provide technical support for all components of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

Ensure endpoint security systems are configured and maintained according to industry standards and security best practices.

Manage and maintain endpoint compliance, including definition updates, client version updates, device health, and activity tracking.

Perform regular sanity checks, configuration reviews, and health assessments of the EDR platform.

Maintain regular configuration backups and ensure an effective disaster recovery (DR) plan for endpoint security platforms.

Required Skills&Experience (Must‑Have)

Hands‑on experience deploying and administering EDR and endpoint security platforms, preferably Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.

Strong experience with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview Information Protection, Microsoft Purview DLP, and Microsoft Exchange Online Protection.

Deep understanding of Security Operations.

Monitoring and detection.

Threat analysis and forensics.

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.

Proven ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams in complex enterprise environments.

Solid understanding of security compliance and governance requirements.

Dutch language is mandatory.

Relevant security certifications such as Microsoft AZ‑500, SC‑100, or equivalent industry certifications.

Experience in threat hunting and advanced detection techniques.

Familiarity with automation, scripting, or SOAR integrations is an advantage.
