About our General Management/Legal Department Our General Management/Legal team is responsible for leading and overseeing our strategic direction, operations and performance. Together, we navigate and lead Vestacy through dynamic global and environmental changes, whilst looking ahead to the horizon for growth and sustainability opportunities. We touch every part of our organisation, from developing and executing long term business strategies to ensuring financial health and budgeting. About the role We are seeking an experienced Junior Legal Manager– Intellectual Property to join our Legal team, with primary responsibility for (a) trademarks and an (b) expanded scope to support patents and 3D designs matters working closely with external counsel. This is a global role with close partnership across Legal, Marketing and R&D teams, focused on enabling innovation, protecting brand and product value, and delivering pragmatic, commercial IP support.
Role Purpose Working as part of the IP function, this role will:
Support the development, protection, prosecution, enforcement, and maintenance of a global trademark portfolio.
Coordinate and support patents and 3D design matters, acting as the internal legal interface with external patent and design attorneys.
Provide business-focused IP advice to support innovation, brand development, and market execution.
Contribute to the development and implementation of IP strategy, policies, and processes across the business.
Your responsibilities
Manage and protect a global portfolio of trademarks, including clearance, filing, prosecution, and enforcement, and portfolio maintenance, with the support of external counsel as applicable.
Support brand development, new product launches, marketing initiatives, and corporate projects with timely and commercial trademark advice.
Address infringement, opposition, cancellation, and anti-counterfeiting matters, balancing legal risk with business priorities.
Maintain and protect related domain name portfolio, with the support of external counsel as applicable.
Promote trademark awareness across the business, including through training and guidance on correct use.
Support the business on patents and 3D designs by coordinating external counsel and enabling effective protection, risk assessment, and strategic decision making aligned with innovation priorities.
Support other legal and administrative activities of the Legal Innovation&Sustainability team as required, reflecting a collaborative, flexible approach within a small and agile legal function. Strategy, Governance&Cost Management
Support the development and implementation of IP policies relating to selection, registration, ownership, use, and defence of IP rights.
Monitor legal, regulatory, and industry developments in trademarks, patents, and designs, advising on impact and recommended actions.
Drive efficient use of internal and external resources, operating within agreed budgets and seeking cost-effective solutions.
Contribute to continuous improvement of IP processes, systems, and ways of working.
Providing timely, pragmatic IP advice in a fast-moving, innovation-driven business environment.
Managing complex, multi-jurisdictional IP matters while maintaining cost discipline.
The experience we're looking for
Legal educational background
Min 2 yrs of relevant working experience
Qualified lawyer; patent attorney qualification is not required.
Strong post-qualification experience in intellectual property, with a clear focus on trademarks.
Experience in managing and instructing external counsel.
Demonstrated experience managing IP portfolios.
Strong commercial judgment and ability to translate legal risk into practical business advice.
Fluency in English
