Strategic Business Controller for Rapid Retail Growth, Amsterdam

With presence in more than fifteen countries, NZA New Zealand Auckland is focused on further international expansion, with Germany as a key growth market, alongside continued development in the Netherlands and Belgium.As the Senior Business Controller you will act as the right hand to the CFO and help the organization make better commercial and operational decisions based on data, analysis, and financial insight. You bring structure to a complex and growing organization with multiple stores, franchise partners, collections, and revenue streams. The core of your role lies in translating large volumes of financial and operational data into actionable insights. You analyse margins, store performance, efficiency per collection, and regional performance, identify where commercial opportunities or operational improvements exist and optimise stock levels with the stock manager. You monitor return rates and investigate underlying drivers, helping the business improve profitability and operational performance across channels and regions.You are also responsible for budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning, ensuring management has reliable steering information to support growth decisions. In addition, you play an active role in strategic projects, including the opening of new stores, franchise expansion, and the rollout of the new ERP landscape. You help further professionalise reporting structures and improve the quality and accessibility of management information through dashboards and Power BI integrations.You report directly to the CFO and operate at the intersection of finance, data, and business performance. In practice, this means you move easily between strategic discussions, operational analyses, forecasting, and hands‑on financial insights. You need to be analytical and hands‑on at the same time: comfortable discussing strategy with the CFO, but also willing to dive into margins, store performance, forecasts, or process improvements when needed.Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field 5+ years of experience in business controlling, FP&A, or a similar analytical finance role, preferably in retail or logistics Solid understanding of business drivers such as margins, store performance, collection efficiency, and return flows Advanced Excel skills and comfortable working with BI tools (e.g. Power BI); quick to adapt to new systems and data environmentsStrong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into clear insights and actionable recommendations Strong stakeholder management skills; able to communicate in a grounded, clear and sensitive way across different levels of the organization Down‑to‑earth, proactive and hands‑on personality with a focus on practical improvements and resultsFluent in Dutch (a must), English required; German is a strong pre
