Our client is a leading technology organization operating in the cloud and managed services sector, with a strong focus on sovereign cloud solutions for regulated and mission-critical environments. With a commitment to security by design and compliance-driven delivery, they serve clients across government, defense, public sector and beyond. For their DevSecOps delivery team, we are currently looking for a Senior Security Engineer based in the Netherlands or Belgium.
The Role
As a Senior Security Engineer, you will be responsible for securing customer-specific sovereign cloud environments throughout their full lifecycle. Operating hands-on within a DevSecOps delivery team, you will translate regulatory, compliance and security requirements into enforceable, automated security controls across OpenShift-based platforms. You will own compliance readiness and security assurance for customer environments, working in close partnership with the Lead Delivery Architect to ensure security is embedded by design and enforced by automation— without compromising delivery speed or platform stability.
Key Responsibilities Design and implement security architecture, hardening and zero-trust controls for customer-specific OpenShift platform environments. Define, implement and enforce security and compliance policies across clusters, pipelines and platform components. Own compliance readiness for customer environments, including audit preparation, evidence collection and traceability.Translate regulatory and customer security requirements into policy-as-code and automated controls. Design and operate security automation including vulnerability scanning, policy enforcement and continuous compliance validation. Manage identity, access control (RBAC), secrets management, encryption and audit logging configurations.Monitor platform security posture and vulnerabilities in collaboration with SREs and platform engineers. Support security assessments, risk analysis and incident response activities within customer environments. Act as the primary security escalation point for customer platform incidents and findings.Advise customer teams on security best practices, mitigations and secure platform usage.
Requirements Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant experience in cloud or platform security roles. Strong hands-on experience securing production Kubernetes or enterprise container platforms, including hardened cluster configuration, workload isolation and runtime security. Proven experience designing and implementing security controls, platform hardening standards and monitoring in cloud-native production environments.Strong background in security automation, policy-as-code and continuous compliance validation across platform, infrastructure and delivery pipelines. Experience supporting audits and compliance assessments in regulated or sovereign environments, including evidence generation and audit readiness. Solid understanding of IAM, encryption, key management, secrets management and secure logging in distributed platforms.Experience integrating security scanning (SAST, DAST, SCA, image and configuration scanning) into CI/CD and GitOps workflows. Knowledge of cloud and security compliance frameworks such as EU-GDPR, NIS2, BIO2, EU-CoC, EUCS and ISO 27001/17/18 is a plus. Fluent in English and Dutch. Willingness to undergo required background screening (e.g. BO+).Relevant security certifications are a plus.
