Environmental Commodities Sales Trader&Advisor - Amsterdam
About the Opportunity
We are partnering with a high-growth, entrepreneurial firm operating at the intersection of trading and sustainability. They are looking to add a commercially driven individual to support the expansion of their environmental commodities platform. This position blends trading execution, client engagement and market advisory, offering the opportunity to play a key role in shaping a growing franchise. You'll be directly involved in transacting across products such as Energy Attribute Certificates, low-carbon fuels and voluntary/regulated carbon instruments, while helping clients navigate an increasingly complex market. Given the early‑stage nature of the business, this role suits someone who thrives in a hands‑on, revenue‑generating environment and enjoys building something from the ground up.Core Responsibilities
Market Intelligence&Insight: Monitor developments across environmental markets, including carbon pricing frameworks, renewable certificates and evolving regulatory schemes. Translate market data into actionable insights to support pricing, positioning and client conversations. Trading&Deal Execution: Identify and act on trading opportunities across relevant environmental products. Execute transactions via a mix of direct negotiation, broker channels and electronic venues. Ensure accurate booking, reporting and alignment with internal governance standards. Commercial Strategy Development: Contribute to the development of trading approaches that enhance revenue generation and risk‑adjusted returns. Spot inefficiencies and emerging trends to inform strategy and market positioning.Client Engagement&Business Development: Proactively engage corporate clients, utilities, project developers and financial participants. Build and manage a pipeline through outbound activity, including phone‑led engagement. Structure solutions tailored to client sustainability and compliance objectives. Relationship Management: Develop lasting commercial relationships to drive repeat flow and long‑term partnerships. Negotiate contractual terms and support deal lifecycle management.Internal Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across analytics, legal and operations to ensure seamless execution. Share knowledge and contribute to a collaborative, high‑performance culture. Ongoing Development: Continuously build expertise in environmental markets and trading best practices. Stay informed on industry innovation, policy changes and market evolution.Candidate Profile
Strong commercial mindset with an interest in energy transition and sustainability markets. Proven ability in sales, trading, or business development environments. Confident communicator with strong negotiation and relationship‑building skills. Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving environment with multiple priorities.Detail‑oriented with a high level of accuracy and accountability. Languages: Fluent English is essential.
