Project Engineer, Bergen op Zoom

The Technical Department is the center of technical expertise at the Bergen op Zoom site of SABIC Specialties. It delivers expert knowledge to all facilities with a focus on the chemical and compounding plants. On the Bergen op Zoom location the Continuous Improvement Department is supporting the manufacturing organization in project engineering, execution and works closely together with operations and maintenance to deliver high quality projects according planning and within budget.

How Can You Be the Impact

Project coordination across all phases: design, procurement, construction, pre‑commissioning, and closeout.

Planning and control during development and execution to ensure progress, quality, and safety.

Leading project execution with strong focus on safety, quality, cost control, and scheduled performance.

Applying project controls and providing insights into performance across the project portfolio.

Stakeholder management through timely identification, alignment, and communication with all involved parties.

Supporting the Project Management Team with best practices, standards, and lessons learned for optimal execution.

Team leadership by motivating, guiding, and inspiring multidisciplinary teams.

Ensuring flawless start‑up through structured preparation and rigorous follow‑up during final project phases.

What Matters to SABIC:

Bachelor or Master Degree in Process Engineering, Mechanical or Electrical or equivalent

Project leadership/management experience, preferably supported by PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Familiarity with CAPEX/Investments

Fluency in Dutch and English

Minimum of 5 years of industrial engineering experience in a demanding, detail‑driven, fast‑track project environment

Strong problem‑solving mindset and the ability to work independently

Excellent interpersonal and team‑building skills

Ability to manage multiple parallel detail‑driven projects while maintaining quality and focus

Influencing skills to guide and align stakeholders without direct hierarchical authority

Strong conceptual, communication, and analytical abilities
