We are expanding our R&D team with a
Medior Embedded Software Engineer
who works at the intersection of software and physics. At VPInstruments, we create smart measurement systems that help industries eliminate energy waste. Your code will run on real instruments measuring flow, pressure, temperature, and power in factories worldwide. If you enjoy writing firmware that has to get the physics right, debugging signals with an oscilloscope, and seeing your algorithms produce accurate measurements on real hardware, you’ll feel right at home.
What we do VPInstruments’ mission is to make the world a better and more sustainable place by eliminating industrial energy waste. We do this by developing, producing, and supplying instrumentation and monitoring software for compressed air and technical gases. Our products can be found in industrial production plants, for example glass prodution, food and beverages, automotive, pharmaceutical plants, all over the world. We thrive on innovation, and with our R&D department we continuously improve our products and design new state-of-the-art instruments, which we manufacture ourselves.
What can you expect in the role of Medior Software Engineer? You’ll spend most of your time (roughly 70%) on embedded firmware, with the rest on lightweight desktop tools and scripts. Develop embedded firmware (C/C++) for our measurement instruments, from signal processing and calibration algorithms to sensor integration over I²C, SPI, RS485, and Modbus.Translate physical measurement principles into reliable, accurate code. You’ll work with real sensors, real physics, and real lab equipment. Collaborate with the R&D team to validate measurements, diagnose anomalies, and continuously improve instrument performance and accuracy. Build small Qt/QML desktop tools and Python scripts to support configuration, diagnostics, and production workflows. You’ll be part of a friendly, technically strong R&D team that values practical engineering, clarity, and good humor. Working on products used worldwide to reduce energy consumption. Your ideas will matter, and you’ll see the impact of your work within days.
What we would expect from you A degree in Embedded Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, or similar. A few years of hands-on embedded C/C++ development experience. A solid feel for physics; you can think in terms of flow, pressure, temperature, and energy, and you understand the physical system behind the sensor signal.Experience working with microcontrollers and common embedded tools (git, CMake, unit testing). Good communication skills in English (Dutch is a bonus). Available 32–40 hours per week, living in the Netherlands within ~30 km of Delft. Bonus points for : experience with Qt/QML, RTOS, industrial instrumentation, flow measurement, or data analysis in Python/MATLAB. But if you’re strong on the fundamentals and eager to learn, we’d love to talk.
What you can expect from us You’ll join an informal, close-knit company with a young and ambitious team of about 18 people. We like to challenge ourselves and be the best in what we do. We value growth and thereby invest in your personal development. Team spirit and personal contact with colleagues is important, so we have a 60–40% working-in-the-office and home arrangement. We lunch together and you can expect regular team outings. We offer a competitive salary, 24 holidays + 4 ADV days, with the possibility to purchase extra holidays, full travel expense reimbursement, a solid pension plan, a contribution towards sports activities, and a company-wide profit-sharing scheme. We’re committed to fostering a positive, flexible, and growth-oriented work environment where you can thrive.
How to join? If you have any questions or if you would like to apply for this job, please contact Arash Noroozi via or +31 (0)15 213 1580. We would like to drink a cup of coffee and get to know you better. With your application, please also submit your motivation letter.
