Currently Europol is looking for
Senior Agent - Software Developer - .NET and Python . The successful candidate will be a member of the Solution Delivery Unit and will be responsible for the design and development of software supporting Law Enforcement capabilities. She/he will develop and maintain production‑grade .NET solutions within distributed systems, including backend services exposing REST APIs and SPA web applications.
In parallel, the successful candidate will be developing and maintaining Python‑based operational tools and lightweight web applications, supporting business users and acting as a bridge with business analysts to accelerate experimentation and co‑development and enable swift response to evolving operational needs. She/he will interact on a daily basis with business counterparts to continuously tune tools and services in line with business direction, and contribute to data processing activities supporting complex or urgent operational cases.
The successful candidate will be carrying out the following functions and duties:
Participating in the design and development of software and database components following the Scrum methodology;
Developing and maintaining production‑grade .NET solutions forming part of distributed software systems, including backend (micro)services exposing REST APIs and SPA frontend components;
Developing and maintaining Python‑based operational tools and lightweight web applications (primarily scripts and tooling), acting as a bridge with business users/analysts to enable rapid experimentation and swift response to operational needs;
Participating in data integration and ETL activities in the area of Law Enforcement data processing, supporting analysts in complex cases, working with SQL and NoSQL data stores (primarily Microsoft SQL Server and Elasticsearch);
Creating and performing unit tests, integration tests and performance tests, as needed;
Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and coding review practices to support reliable delivery and maintainability across both production‑grade solutions and fast‑track tooling;
Creating and maintaining technical documentation, including design and infrastructure documentation, in cooperation with relevant ICT teams;
Maintaining a strong security and data‑protection awareness and posture in day‑to‑day development activities (including fast‑track tools), in line with applicable constraints and compliance requirements;
Any other duties in the area of competence as assigned by line management.
Key requirements and knowledge
A level of education as described in the vacancy notice published on Europol’s website;
Experience working in multiple‑developer agile‑based software development projects, preferably at least 3–5 years;
Experience in developing applications with C# and .NET framework (version 8 or later);
Experience in developing solutions with Python, including tooling, automation and lightweight web applications and services;
Experience with server‑side development, including RESTful API services, relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server), and NoSQL datastores/search engines (e.g., Elasticsearch);
Experience in DevOps practices, including source code management, code review, continuous integration, and automated delivery using tools such as Azure DevOps;
Experience with containerised deployments, such as Docker
Knowledge of C#/.NET (version 8 or later) with the ability to implement RESTful APIs and building service‑oriented and microservices architectures, including integrating Microsoft SQL Server and Elasticsearch;
Knowledge of Python for developing tooling, automation and lightweight web applications and services;
Knowledge of MS SQL Server and of NO‑SQL data stores and search engines such as Elasticsearch;
Knowledge of container technologies, such as Docker and distributed, message‑based, microservices‑oriented architectures;
Knowledge of DevOps practices, including source code management, continuous integration, and automated deployment using tools such as Azure DevOps;
The basic monthly salary is grade 13 (EUR
4,449.31 ), grade 14 (EUR
5,034.18 ) or grade 16 (EUR
6,444.59 ) - depending on number of years of proven professional experience.
The indicative salary for a staff member (single) in receipt of expatriation allowance (16%) is:
a) Staff member (single) in receipt of expatriation allowance (16%): grade 13 EUR

b) Staff member with two dependent children in their custody in receipt of expatriation allowance (16%): grade 13 EUR
