Embedded Software Intern– IoT Wireless Gateway (Eindhoven)
We are looking for an embedded software intern to contribute to innovative projects focused on improving the performance, scalability, and efficiency of IoT wireless gateway systems. Topic Description
Performance Optimization and Benchmarking of an IoT Wireless Gateway: This internship focuses on developing algorithmic techniques to optimize and benchmark the wireless network performance of an IoT wireless gateway that bridges multiple wireless protocols (e.g., Zigbee, BLE, Thread) to cloud or edge platforms.The goal is to analyze system performance bottlenecks, optimize software and communication stacks, and benchmark key metrics such as throughput, latency and reliability under realistic IoT workloads. During this internship, you will work with embedded platforms and networking stacks, leveraging tools and profiling techniques to assess system efficiency and contribute to improving reliability and scalability in connected lighting systems.Qualifications
Enrolled in an engineering degree in Embedded Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field Strong interest in embedded systems, networking, and performance optimization Experience with programming in C/C++ and at least one scripting language (e.g., Python) Familiarity with Linux‑based systems and embedded development environmentsBasic understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, MQTT, BLE, Zigbee, or similar) Experience with performance profiling or benchmarking tools is a plus Experience with Git for version control Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills Available for 6–12 months, 32–40 hours per week, preferred start date: October 1What You’ll Get in Return
