Mechanical System Architect– High Tech Systems
As Mechanical Architect at our client active within the heart of Brainport Eindhoven, you'll play a key role in the development of advanced high-tech equipment and precision systems within a multidisciplinary environment. You are responsible for defining and realizing the mechanical architecture of complex systems, translating customer and system requirements into robust concepts and scalable technical solutions.
Working closely together with system architects, project managers, mechanical designers, software engineers, electronics engineers and manufacturing teams, you contribute to cutting-edge technologies in domains such as semiconductors, medical devices, analytical equipment, robotics and automation. You combine strong analytical capabilities with a pragmatic engineering mindset and are able to operate at different abstraction levels, from conceptual system thinking down to detailed technical decision-making.
As a Mechanical Architect, you will: Define and maintain the mechanical architecture of complex mechatronic systems and subsystems. Translate customer needs and system requirements into technical specifications, concepts and design strategies. Make architectural trade-offs regarding performance, manufacturability, reliability, cost and maintainability.Lead mechanical design activities throughout the full product development lifecycle, from concept to industrialization. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanics, software, electronics, system engineering and manufacturing. Guide and coach mechanical engineers and designers in technical decision-making and design quality.Perform and oversee analyses related to stiffness, dynamics, thermal behavior, tolerances and precision mechanics. Define verification and validation strategies to ensure compliance with requirements and product quality. Manage technical risks and support integration and troubleshooting activities during development and testing.Drive innovation by introducing new technologies, methodologies and design approaches. Act as technical stakeholder towards customers, suppliers and project teams.
What do you bring? MSc or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical discipline. Minimum 8–10 years of experience in high-tech equipment development or precision engineering environments. Proven experience in defining mechanical architectures for complex precision mechanics systems and high-tech products.Strong understanding of precision mechanics, dynamics, thermal management, manufacturability and system integration. Experience working in multidisciplinary development teams and (in)formal leaderschip. Solid knowledge of structured product development processes and systems engineering principles.Experience with CAD tools and engineering analysis methods such as FEA and tolerance analysis. Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to balance technical depth with system-level overview. Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing.
