Mechanical Architect, Eindhoven

In this role, you are responsible for defining and shaping the mechanical architecture of complex mechatronic systems within a multidisciplinary environment. You contribute to strategic business cases and technical roadmaps, translating customer and stakeholder needs into robust system specifications, conceptual designs, and architectural frameworks. You operate at system level, ensuring technical coherence, innovation, and alignment across disciplines throughout the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities: Contribute to business cases and technical roadmaps from a mechanical system perspective. Collaborate closely with customers, architects, project managers, account managers, and engineering teams to ensure alignment. Translate customer needs into system specifications and mechanical architecture definitions.Define conceptual designs for (sub)systems, including budgets and system-level breakdowns. Specify test and integration requirements to support a complete V-model development cycle. Ensure product design quality through structured system-level verification planning. Build and maintain internal and external technical networks to support organizational growth.Drive innovation by introducing new technologies and applying theoretical principles in practical contexts. Lead and inspire designers and engineers to take ownership of their deliverables. Provide technical leadership across large and complex multidisciplinary scopes. Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment across multiple project levels.Guide the mechanical design direction at system level across teams and projects.

What you bring: Master’s or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics. 10 to 15 years of experience in mechatronic and precision system design in high-tech environments. Proven track record in mechanical design within complex systems and equipment. Strong multidisciplinary understanding of mechanical integration within broader system architectures.Strong analytical and abstract thinking skills with experience in advanced analysis methods. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Recognized technical leader with ability to coach and inspire engineering teams. Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of mechanical design, mechanisms, precision engineering, and Design for Excellence (DfX).
