Product Compliance Specialist
We at Shimano are looking for a Product Compliance Specialist with expertise in the chemical domain. This role requires an experienced, hands‑on product compliance professional who can translate EU regulatory requirements into operational and scalable processes. The successful candidate will build, structure, document, and continuously improve compliance workflows across REACH, CLP, RoHS, WFD, SVHC communication, PFAS, and SCIP reporting. The role combines regulatory expertise, data discipline, and process ownership. It is execution‑driven and highly accountable.Responsibilities
Build, structure, document, and continuously improve compliance workflows across REACH, CLP, RoHS, WFD, SVHC communication, PFAS and SCIP reporting. Build and maintain REACH tonnage tracking processes, including data logic, reporting structure, and early warning indicators. Design and operate the SVHC and SCIP process, covering substance identification, Article33 communication, SCIP reporting, backlog resolution, and future proofing.Implement CLP workflows, including classification reviews, SDS governance, labeling requirements, and packaging checks. Establish PFAS compliance workflows, including supplier data collection, material screening logic, risk categorization, and regulatory readiness for future restrictions. Monitor new and upcoming product legislation and translate it into impact assessments and actionable internal steps.Create templates, checklists, decision trees, and tracking tools to support consistent execution. Actively request, verify, challenge, and correct supplier compliance data. Identify weaknesses in existing processes and implement corrective actions before issues escalates to customers or authorities.Coordinate across Product Management, R&D, Quality, Legal, and Supply Chain; push back on suppliers and stakeholders when data quality or timeliness is insufficient. Define end‑to‑end workflows covering data intake, validation, assessment, decision making, documentation, escalation, and record retention. Qualifications
3 to 5 years of relevant experience in product or chemical compliance. Experience in complex product portfolios and multi‑tier supply chains – strongly preferred. Prior involvement in audits, authority inquiries, or customer escalations – advantage. Highly structured, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple parallel product and regulatory tracks.Pragmatic mindset focused on workable solutions rather than theoretical perfection. Resilient under deadline pressure and legal scrutiny. Strong sense of ownership; capable of fixing processes when they fail. Experience creating or significantly reworking compliance processes. Ability to define roles, triggers, timelines, and ownership across stakeholders.Benefits
