Job description Are you creative, do you enjoy cooking, working in a small team, and getting things done? Then we're looking for you!
De Markies is looking for a new Chef! We offer a unique dining experience where ambiance, quality, and personalized service are paramount. Our charming restaurant with a spacious terrace is located just outside the city center, near the Noorderplantsoen park. The menu offers a delightful blend of culinary delights and the chef's menu. It's regularly reprinted and updated with new flavors and dishes; we're constantly innovating and love keeping things compact and diverse.
Responsibilities
You can handle a completely independent working position.
You will take care of inventory management and place orders.
You are primarily responsible for sound purchasing policy and product selection.
The kitchen is your primary workspace, but guests often enjoy seeing a chef at the table. Within the small team, tasks are divided and shared.
Work with the owner to develop dishes and wine-food pairings. Influences from around the world are used, with Mediterranean cuisine as the foundation.
What we are looking for
You speak Dutch, but can also explain to English-speaking colleagues. Sufficient experience is required, including timing, leadership, product knowledge, HACCP, and allergens.
Creativity and solution-orientedness: if something is not possible or not allowed, what is possible and allowed?
Team spirit: together we are strong, so we really have to do it together.
Action and reaction: keep busy and don't wait, take action.
Passion for cooking, with an interest in trying new combinations and discovering and expanding new cuisines (e.g., vegetarian and vegan).
