Roots of Empathy Family, Groningen

Overview Roots of Empathy invites parents of babies aged 2‑4 months to volunteer as a "Family" in our Groningen school program. Each family visits the classroom 9 times over the school year, approximately every three weeks, for a 30‑minute session. Attending the class engages the baby as a learning partner and helps students develop empathy and emotional literacy.

Responsibilities

Attend 9 scheduled visits over the school year.

Introduce your baby to the classroom and participate in guided activities.

Respond to the instructor’s pre‑visit and post‑visit calls about the program’s themes and student questions.

Follow guidance from the Roots of Empathy Instructor during each visit.

Qualifications

Be a parent or primary caregiver of a baby 2‑4 months old in October.

Live in or near Groningen.

Be available for the nine 30‑minute visits over the school year.

Commitment to Participants At the start of the year, the Instructor meets with families to discuss the program and answer questions. The Instructor contacts families before each visit to review themes and share student insights. Families play a vital role in building empathy and kindness in the classroom.
