Senior Project Manager, Groningen

Contract Length : 12-month contract (potential for extension or permanent transition)

I am currently working with a client who is looking to secure a

Senior Project Manager

with experience in the renewable energy sector to support the delivery of a

battery energy storage (BESS) project

in the

Northern Netherlands (Groningen region) . The requirement is for a Senior Project Manager to take ownership of a site-based, greenfield project, with a flexible start date over the coming weeks.

The role would suit a Senior Project Manager with a background in

renewable energy (BESS / wind / solar)

and experience delivering projects in or above the range of approximately

15–30m€ . You would be joining during the development/engineering phase and taking full responsibility for delivery through to commissioning and handover.

Significant Project Management experience (preferably 8–12+ years), ideally within energy or infrastructure.

Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, preferably within renewable or power sectors.

Proven experience delivering EPC or large-scale construction projects from inception through to completion.

Strong experience managing multidisciplinary teams including engineering, procurement, and construction.

Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and risk across complex project lifecycles.

Experience engaging with stakeholders at both site and senior management level.

Beneficial Skills

Previous experience working on grid-connected projects or energy storage developments

Roles and Responsibilities

Full project lifecycle ownership, from early engineering through to construction and commissioning.

Management of engineering, procurement, and construction contractors and key suppliers.

Oversight of project budget, schedule, and overall performance delivery.

Establishment of project structure, roles, and responsibilities across the delivery team.

Regular reporting to senior stakeholders and executive management.

Identification and mitigation of project risks and coordination of key project interfaces.
