The software department of the Application Engineering cluster is responsible for the software development in Combat Management and Radar- and Optical sensors for worldwide navies- and defense systems. The work is performed in multi-disciplinary agile teams with specialists in software/system/test engineering and functional design. Our team delivers the Platform Software that is used in all Naval Products developed in Hengelo.

About The Assignments All our systems are Linux based and are distributed systems with a network infrastructure connection the nodes. On the nodes, a machine image is created with Red Hat Linux and the configuration is done with Ansible. For the platform there are a number of different assignments:

Observability. Proof of concept: create a test setup with fluentd to send log files to a central loki server and make these available to the user in a Grafana dashboard.

Maintainer laptop: Currently the maintainer laptop is only usable for a single product. Extend the platform to support multiple products on the same laptop (comparable with VM snapshots).

Code analysis tooling: what is the current state of technology for static and dynamic code analysis (C++/Python). What is requested by NIST. Investigation with proof of concept.

IP protection: investigate COTS solutions for Linux including applications running in Linux containers.

Variation management: investigate what the variation points are in the platform. Based on these variations can a configuration file be created for instantiation. Proof of concept: create tool that uses the configuration file to create the Ansible configuration for the platform.
