We are looking for a Naval Gun Java Engineer (FuWES) to join Akkodis team in Hengelo, the Netherlands.

About the team

The role is a software engineering role within our biggest project to date, the F126 ships for the German Navy.

FüWES (Führungs- und WaffenEinsatzSystem) is the command system consisting of TACTICOS with an integrated, newly developed Fire Control solution. The development and integration of all subsystems onboard the ship, is what FüWES is all about. It accounts for the complete development cycle of products and solutions: from concept definition to system design, continuing to system integration and validation, up until the inclusion of delivery onboard the customer vessels. With the complete solution, we enable this new generation of frigates for the German Navy to have the necessary information toDefense Operators in time and to make the right decision within seconds.

Key responsibilities

To help us build and expand this system, we are looking for a Naval Gun Java Engineer (FuWES) to take part in one of our development teams.

In addition to software development, our teams are fully responsible for various aspects, such as requirements analysis, architecture, design, testing, validation and product demonstrations. The use of high-tech techniques and software development methods is important. The software of our FüWES system is based both on Java and C++ and is supported by a modern development environment.

As a senior or medior software engineer you are working with the other engineers on your agile team and the other agile teams in the same sub-domain. You work on writing code and implementation of designs and requirements as laid out by the System Engineers and Software Architects. You take into account security and safety for the code you are working on. Your team works together on designing and delivering the features as requested, while maintaining the high quality standards practiced within Thales.

You will work (among others) with the following tools and techniques:

Unit Testing (Junit), Test Automation, Cucumber

Who are we looking for?

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineer or a related technical domain with a talent for JAVA.

At least 5 years of recent, relevant professional experience in Java Development.

Finds pleasure in rapidly mastering new domains and techniques.

Dutch nationality is mandatory due to the security restrictions on the project.
