Bioinformatics System Administrator, Leiden

As a Bioinformatics System Administrator, you play a key role in both data analysis and the optimization of bioinformatics infrastructure. Responsibilities

Perform bioinformatics analyses for commercial projects and manage timelines Develop and optimize pipelines and tools, including code review and testing Maintain and improve Linux-based bioinformatics infrastructure (HPC) Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with external partnersEnsure data quality, security, and compliance with standards Drive continuous improvements and support knowledge sharing within the team Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in bioinformatics or a related field plus 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a commercial setting Strong experience with Linux (system administration and HPC environments) Proficiency in programming/scripting (Python, R, or similar) Experience with bioinformatics toolsand NGS data analysisHands‑on experience with pipeline development (e.g., Nextflow) Familiarity with GIT version control and software‑development best practices Understanding of data security, quality standards, and validation processes Based within 35 km of our Leiden office Personal Attributes
