Position Overview: We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Maastricht, where you will contribute to the design, development, and optimization of equipment and systems supporting our cultured leather production. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Equipment&Process Design
: Support the design, prototyping, and implementation of custom lab and production equipment tailored to bioprocessing applications. Scale-Up
: Plan, initiate, and oversee equipment/machine building projects with full ownership of scale-up strategies and modelling. Operations&Compliance
: Ensure and maintain high standards of project execution
while supporting adherence to quality and safety. Collaboration&Continuous Improvement:
Work closely with engineers, scientists, and external partners to optimize equipment performance and contribute to innovation in cultured leather production. You will receive structured onboarding and training to develop the skills needed for success and long-term growth.

Required skills: Acting as a subject matter expert (SME) and primary point of contact for EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) and OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) partners Project management, including planning, coordination, and execution of engineering projects Vendor and stakeholder communication and relationship managementTechnical evaluation and specification of equipment and systems Risk assessment and mitigation in project execution Coordination between cross-functional teams Budgeting and resource planning for projects Tracking project progress and ensuring timely delivery Problem-solving and troubleshooting during design, installation, and/or commissioning
Preferred skills: Hands-on experience in equipment design, prototyping, and modification Conducting design reviews to ensure compliance with requirements and standards Planning and executing Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) Proficiency with CAD software for creating and modifying technical drawingsExperience with engineering design tools and software for modeling, simulation, or analysis Driving technical problem-solving and troubleshooting during design, testing, and commissioning Understanding of mechanical systems, tolerances, and specifications
Qualifications: This role is suitable for candidates with a MSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent field. +5 years industry experience from Biopharma, Food Biotech Permission to work in the EU (Netherlands) is preferred Good verbal and written communication skills (minimum English level B2);Curiosity-driven mindset with the ability to learn new techniques quickly. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills for working in a diverse, international environment.
