Volunteer Opportunities We are seeking volunteers to support a couple whose husband requires weekly assistance with his hospital appointments. Various supportive roles are available, including transportation, companionship, chapel services, cycling, and health education.

Responsibilities

Accompany the husband to and from hospital appointments, including driving or arranging a region taxi, using a wheelchair taxi, and providing a guide to the hospital.

Provide waiting support at the hospital for the patient and accompanying companion as needed.

Offer companionship through conversation, coffee, games, or musical entertainment to make the patient's experience positive and supportive.

Conduct monthly chapel celebrations in Nicolaas, including organizing and leading services.

Organize cycling outings on dual‑bicycle with residents, encouraging physical activity and shared experiences.

Promote the concept of‘Positieve Gezondheid’, educating participants on personal influence over change and supportive approaches.

Apply assertive communication and mutual respect in interactions, especially when addressing topics such as boundaries and coping with dementia.

Understand basic financial management for the organization, including budgeting and cash control.

Prepare, conduct, and close meetings to ensure purposeful outcomes.

Desired Qualifications&Skills

Willingness to commit to long‑term volunteer involvement for continuity and relationship building.

Friendly and communicative demeanor– enjoys conversation, coffee breaks, or playing games.

Musical talent (for chaplain role) considered a plus.

Passion for cycling and experience with dual‑bicycle outings if applying for the cycling role.

Knowledge or interest in Positive Health principles and how individuals influence change.

Assertiveness and respect for mutual boundaries in discussions.

Empathy and respectful engagement with individuals with dementia.

Basic financial literacy and meeting facilitation skills.
