Lecturer in Intersectional Gender and Diversity Studies Join us in teaching courses in gender, diversity, inequality and social justice. As Lecturer in Intersectional Gender&Diversity Studies at Radboud University, you will guide students in analysing complex societal issues from an intersectional and interdisciplinary perspective.

As a Lecturer, you will primarily teach in the new Master’s degree programme in Intersectional Gender Studies. This is a one‑year, English‑taught Master’s programme in which academic depth, practice‑oriented research and professional skills are closely connected. You will be particularly involved as a coordinator and lecturer in courses such asAcademic Advisory Training, Disability Studies, and Academic Skills in the pre‑Master’s programme. In addition, you will contribute to interdisciplinary undergraduate minors in the field of gender, diversity and social justice, and supervise graduate students working on their Master’s thesis.

Within these courses, you will give lectures and seminars and/or supervise student groups working on practice‑oriented assignments, as well as individual students in their academic development. You will be expected to work with fellow lecturers on the basis of existing course materials, update teaching materials, and actively contribute ideas for quality improvement and further development of the study programme. You will also play a role in the programme committee and/or the examination committee.

You will join a teaching environment in which interactive seminars, workshops, practice‑oriented assignments and critical reflection are central. The teaching is strongly interdisciplinary and connects insights from fields such as cultural studies, sociology, political science and psychology. Most of your teaching will be in English.

Does this sound like you?

You have completed a PhD in Gender Studies, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Disability Studies, Migration Studies, Critical Race or a related discipline.

You have demonstrable experience in academic teaching.

You have demonstrable expertise in intersectionality theory and experience with applying intersectional approaches in teaching, research, and/or societal or policy contexts.

You have demonstrable affinity with interdisciplinary approaches to gender, diversity, inequality and social justice.

You preferably have substantive expertise in disability studies, critical race studies, migration studies and/or in supervising practice‑oriented research and advisory assignments.

You are able to supervise students in a teaching context in which critical thinking, societal engagement and collaboration with external partners are important.

You are able to work in an interdisciplinary teaching team and actively contribute to the further development of courses and curricula.

You have excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of Dutch is an advantage.

What we offer you

We will give you a temporary employment contract of one year with the prospect of an indefinite contract. There is a possibility to expand the teaching duties with research activities, depending on the candidate’s preferences and the available financial resources.

Your salary within salary scale 11 depends on your previous education and number of years of (relevant) work experience. The amounts in the scale are based on a 38‑hour working week.

You will receive an 8% holiday allowance and an 8.3% end‑of‑year bonus.

You will receive extra days off. With full‑time employment, you can choose between 30 or 41 days of annual leave instead of the statutory 20.

Where you will be working Gender&Diversity is a research group within the Faculty of Social Sciences at Radboud University. The group critically examines how social inequalities emerge, are sustained and can be transformed. It works from an intersectional and interdisciplinary perspective, bringing together theories and methods from fields including organisation studies, sociology, psychology, pedagogical sciences, philosophy, literary studies and disability studies. Research focuses on diversities in everyday culture and politics, organisations and care, and is translated into policies and interventions that contribute to equal rights and opportunities.

The department is part of the broader Radboud Gender&Diversity Studies collaboration and is involved in delivering the Master’s programme in Intersectional Gender Studies. The programme is strongly interdisciplinary and practice‑oriented: students learn to analyse complex societal issues and work on assignments for organisations, serious gaming and research projects around current themes such as health inequalities, algorithmic discrimination, and inclusive policy development.
