The Opportunity: The Assistant Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting, supported by reliable underlying records and compliant with applicable accounting standards and legislation. The role plays a key part in the monthly and annual closing processes, as well as supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. In addition, the Assistant Controller contributes to the development and improvement of financial systems, processes, and internal controls to support a scalable finance function. The position coordinates compliance activities, including tax and statutory requirements, and supports audit processes in collaboration with external advisors. The dynamic nature of the role requires handling various ad hoc tasks and active contribution to the growth and professionalization of the finance function, reporting directly to the Finance Director EMEA.
Key Duties&Responsibilities:
Own and continuously improve the monthly close process
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements and management reports
Ensure proper documentation and audit readiness of financial records
Accounting&Compliance
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (AP, AR, general ledger)
Coordinate tax compliance across multiple European markets (VAT, filings), working with external advisors where needed
Support statutory reporting and audits
Planning&Analysis
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Provide insights into business performance, margins, and key drivers
Partner with leadership to translate financial data into actionable decisions
Process&Systems Improvement
Build and optimize financial processes, controls, and workflows
Help implement and improve finance systems and tools
Drive automation and efficiency across finance operations
Business Partnering
Collaborate with teams across the company to ensure finance supports growth
Act as a bridge between finance and operations, enabling better decision-making
Scaling the Finance Function
Support expansion into new markets, products, and entities
Help establish scalable structures, policies, and controls
Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, and advisors
Qualifications&Experience:
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Comfortable owning processes end-to-end, from transactional detail to insights
Hands-on, structured, and detail-oriented, with a proactive mindset
Able to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functional
Strong systems proficiency (e.g., Exact Globe, Excel, ERP systems), with fluency in Dutch and English
