Our product electrical engineering team is a fast-growing team of professionals who are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the hardware for all the smart trainer products that Tacx makes.
In this position you are part of our Engineering and R&D department, consisting of Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers. You will work in close cooperation with other engineers to design and develop products at our office and manufacturing facility in Oegstgeest. Aside from all your local coworkers, you’ll work together with international colleagues from different kinds of disciplines all over the world. You will report to our Electrical Engineering Team Lead.
Your team You will join a
small electrical engineering team (5 people)
within our broader Engineering and R&D organization. The team is responsible for the hardware in Tacx smart trainer products and works closely with software, mechanical engineering and manufacturing.
Because development and assembly are closely connected in Oegstgeest, you can move quickly from idea to prototype to manufacturable product. At the same time, this role has a strong international component: you will collaborate closely with PCB design teams in the USA and electronics manufacturing partners in Taiwan. You’ll have a direct impact on the quality of the products we build and on the effectiveness of the team around you.
What are your main tasks and responsibilities?
Design, develop and validate electronic hardware for Tacx smart trainer products.
Create electrical schematics and PCB layouts for products with a strong analog focus.
Work on hardware for motor control, electromagnetic actuators, microcontrollers, wireless connectivity, and battery-powered systems.
Support hardware development from concept and prototyping to verification and production.
Bring up and test hardware on prototypes and bare boards.
Use lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and DMMs to debug and validate designs.
Make design trade-offs across performance, power, thermal behavior, size and cost.
Apply EMC knowledge during design and validation.
Collaborate closely with mechanical, software and manufacturing teams to deliver robust, manufacturable products.
Work closely with colleagues in the USA on PCB design and with partners in Taiwan on electronics manufacturing.
Contribute to continuous improvement of existing Tacx products and help increase team productivity through strong technical execution.
What do we expect from you?
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Hardware Engineering or a related field.
Experience with motor control and/or electromagnetic actuators and designing hardware around microcontrollers.
Experience with Bluetooth and/or Wi-Fi.
Experience with battery-powered electronic systems.
Strong knowledge of EMC and how it affects hardware design.
Experience in creating schematics and PCB designs using Cadence OrCAD.
Hands‑on experience with hardware bring‑up, debugging and validation using standard lab tools.
Solid written and verbal communication skills in English (and pref)
