Cardano is a subsidiary of Cardano Nederland B.V.Your Role You will join our Rotterdam-based Software Engineering team, in some cases working together with the larger engineering team in London and Malaga, to help develop Web Applications, Web APIs, and ETL processes to make Cardano’s Investment business more robust, scalable, and efficient. You work directly with the business to convert their needs into software that is compatible with our stack, design philosophy, and architecture. You develop a good understanding of financial markets and pension funds to maintain a conversation with the business and think along with their problem statement.We believe in picking the best tool for the job. The developer is expected to work collaboratively, share their knowledge with other team members, and contribute to the improvement of the platform, practices, patterns, and technology stack. Key Responsibilities The responsibilities will consist of solving Cardano Investment team’s business problems by delivering in-house software (both Frontend and Backend) together with the Engineering team.Core tasks include: Use your Software Engineering skills to provide complete solutions using best practices, ensuring performance and reliability. There is typically no middle person between you and the business; together with the business, you convert their needs into software that is compatible with our stack, design philosophy, and architecture.Develop a good understanding of financial markets, financial risk management, and pension funds to maintain a conversation with the business and think along with their problem statement. Work closely with the DataOps, DevOps, infrastructure platform team, and other data project teams to ensure your projects use the most appropriate technology consistent with the firm’s strategic tools.As part of the software engineering support rota, approximately one day every two weeks within working hours, provide production monitoring and management of applications, APIs, overnight batches, and data feeds into and out of the firm. Stay abreast of changing technologies and continuously learn innovative approaches to data and software engineering and technologies, bringing those ideas into the firm.Skills Required To perform the role effectively, you will need the following skills: Good programming skills with a minimum of 3 years of production experience in Frontend Development using React&TypeScript. Experience working with Python. Experience in writing and maintaining automated tests (unit, integration, etc.). Experience working with databases (any SQL and NoSQL). Able to troubleshoot production issues and implement fixes to prevent reoccurrence. Experience with GraphQL, FastAPI, AntD is a bonus.Experience with Big Data Technologies such as Hive, Apache NiFi is a bonus.
