About Nearfield Instruments Nearfield Instruments (NFI) is a fast‑growing scale‑up high‑tech company. We design, develop, integrate, market and service advanced metrology machines. Our machines enable our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers – to increase the production yields, and thus, the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics.
Founded in 2016, we bring together the most creative minds (approx. 380 employees) in science and technology and develop a one‑of‑a‑kind, revolutionary high throughput Scanning Probe Microscopy system.
In an AFM system (like the Quadra of NFI), probes (the measurement needles) are a crucial element. Probes have a limited lifetime and thus are a consumable, which need regular supply, to prevent unavailability of the measurement tool. Therefore, probes supply is an essential element of the service to our customers.
Each probe has individual characteristics (resonance frequencies, stiffness, etc.) which are important parameters to tune the measurement process with that specific probe. These characteristics should be measured when probes are delivered to our customers.
As probes QA Engineer you play an important role in the daily operations for probes delivery. You will be end‑to‑end responsible for the quality of the probes. Meaning you have to oversee the whole chain of supplier quality, incoming and outgoing inspections, handling and characterization and the performance of the probes. You will develop new or improved procedures for qualification and characterization and ensure these new procedures as well as required trainings are in effect. With suppliers you will align on their quality requirements, qualification processes and quality improvement plans. You will evaluate the reports on probe usage and performance from the customer sites, and investigate issues where scores are lagging. To investigate such issues you will cooperate with colleagues from R&D and D&E to perform root cause analysis and propose&implement solutions.
Key responsibilities:
Establish well‑defined procedures for all probe quality related activities
Monitor quality of probes
Identify areas where performance is lagging or where improvements are feasible.
Drive quality improvements internally and at suppliers
Your Profile:
Mechanical engineering, material engineering, physics or similar background
Minimum 3 years experience in Quality Control
Experience with SPC
Preferred experience in the semiconductor industry and part manufacturing
Preferred experience working in clean rooms
Familiarity with AFM probes is a plus
Good analytical&presentation skills
Good (English) communication
What can you expect from us? Getting on board now is a great opportunity to grow with the company from a technical, personal, and financial perspective. Nearfield's momentum is energetic and promising!
Our starting point is of course to pay someone a fair and competitive salary and besides this we offer you:
Valuation of your work-life balance;
Time for some relaxation: 30 holidays per calendar year (based on 40 hours);
8% holiday allowance;
Commuting allowance;

We are here to support one another, and colleagues are there to help you. TEAM is very important, Together Everyone Achieves More!
Besides a challenging role where you can utilize the full extent of your professional knowledge.
