Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam is currently looking for an equipment engineer for their equipment design department. As an equipment engineer, you’ll be working on new concepts and designs where you’re able to transfer the first client specifications into 3D and 2D concepts and designs. You’ll be able to make hand- and excel calculations to check your designs in the first stage. During your work you’ll be in close contact with a leadengineer and the client to determine the right direction in the first stage of the project.

In your designs you’ll have a good eye for practical solutions regarding fabrication, maintenance and daily use of the equipment. Together with the (structural) engineers, who focus on calculations and FEM, you’ll be able to adjust your designs and come to the optimal solution for the project. You also will cooperate with our other engineering departments, Vessel Design and Operational Engineering, to make sure the integration with the vessel and workability during execution are taken into account as well.

For this position we’re looking for someone who loves working with 3D and 2D software, who has already some years of experience and who wants to work on the frontend of engineering in the maritime industry.

Responsible for concepts and designs of equipment related to the maritime industry

Making concept design models with 3D CAD software

Able to make hand- and Excel calculations

Checking calculations and designs according to rules and regulations

Discuss progress with your project team and clients

Your Background

Bachelor level in Mechanical Engineering or comparable

About five years’ of experience within equipment designs and concepts

Familiar with fabrication methods

Experience with 3D CAD, preferably Solid Edge and/or Inventor

Experience with hand calculations and mechanics

Able to work within a project team but also work independently
