Junior Mechanic, Propulsion, Schiedam

As a Junior Mechanic in the Propulsion Workshop, you will work on overhaul, repair and upgrade of marine propulsion systems—including controllable pitch propellers, thrusters and oil supply units—using Wärtsilä manuals, drawings and procedures.

Main Responsibilities

Disassemble, inspect, assemble and test complete propulsion installations and components.

Identify and resolve discrepancies or non‑conformities with the workshop foreman.

Follow order/project records and checklists.

Ensure work meets Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines.

Maintain a clean and tidy workshop, especially your own work area.

Qualifications

Experience with mechanical assembly procedures.

Ability to read and understand technical assembly drawings and instructions.

Familiarity with industry safety standards and practices.

Proficiency in Dutch and English (written and verbal) is preferred.

Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work overtime or weekend shifts when required.
