Senior Legal Counsel

Fulltime (40 hours per week)

Are you a sharp legal mind who thrives in a complex, EU/international environment? We’re looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our team in Schiedam. You’ll play a central role in guiding the business through intricate legal landscapes, from high‑value contract negotiations to cross‑border regulatory challenges.

This isn’t a back‑office role. You’ll have a seat at the table, working closely with senior stakeholders to shape decisions and protect the business at the highest level.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

Advise on complex local and EU/international legal matters, ensuring full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Draft, review, and negotiate high‑value contracts and agreements across multiple business units.

Lead legal risk assessments and develop proactive strategies to mitigate exposure.

Act as a trusted legal advisor in business strategy, contributing directly to key decision‑making processes.

Manage relationships with external law firms, including oversight of case handling and budget.

Represent Mammoet in negotiations and legal proceedings, safeguarding the company’s interests.

Design and implement legal policies, procedures, and governance frameworks in line with industry best practices.

Partner with Sales, Operations, Finance, and Project Management teams to deliver practical, business‑focused legal support.

Monitor legislative developments and ensure the business stays ahead of evolving legal requirements.

Support and mentor junior legal team members, contributing to a culture of continuous growth.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

A formal legal education or degree in Business Law or a related field.

Between 5 and 10 years of experience in legal affairs within an EU/international commercial environment.

Deep expertise in contract management and EU/international commercial law.

Fluency in both Dutch and English, written and spoken.

Sharp analytical thinking with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable advice.

Strong judgment and decisiveness, comfortable taking ownership under pressure.

A collaborative mindset with the ability to build trust across functions and seniority levels.

A proactive approach to identifying risk and finding practical solutions.
