National Transport Operations Manager - Contract Logistics, Veghel

Be at the heart of our Transport Operations Center and join us as National Transport Operations Manager– Contract Logistics in Veghel. In this role, you lead and oversee daily transport operations to meet customer needs and ensure On Time In Full deliveries, working closely with warehouse and supply chain teams. You are responsible for managing team performance and executing operational plans to achieve targets and deliver value for assigned customers.

Responsibilities

Full ownership of day-to‑day transport operations across Contract Logistics sites in the Netherlands, ensuring On Time In Full delivery and achievement of agreed performance targets

Transport carrier and supplier management, including performance monitoring, cost control, and disciplined execution of the procurement strategy

Lead, manage, and develop a transport team of approximately 10 employees, providing clear direction, coaching, performance management, and supporting long‑term capability development

Ensure effective workforce and capacity planning, including the management of temporary contracts to flex resources in line with operational demand

Customer relationship management, acting as the main operational point of contact and managing escalations, service issues, and continuous service improvement

End‑to‑end transport planning and operational oversight, ensuring sufficient capacity and swift resolution of disruptions and service deviations

Drive continuous improvement initiatives, applying the Kuehne + Nagel Production System to enhance service quality, efficiency, and cost performance

Lead and contribute to transport‑related projects, including new customer implementations, new transport flows, and the introduction of new ways of working

Ensure compliance with quality, safety, health, and security standards, while contributing to the national Transport Operations Center roadmap together with leadership peers

Qualifications

Ideally a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in logistics, supply chain, or a related field; relevant practical experience is equally valued

2 to 3 years of experience in transport, logistics, or distribution operations, ideally in an operational or supervisory role

Good understanding of transport and contract logistics processes, including daily distribution activities

Proven ability to communicate confidently and professionally with customers, including operational discussions, issue handling, and expectation management

Experience in managing or supervising a small team, or taking day‑to‑day responsibility for people planning and operational coordination

Experience in coordinating transport partners or external service providers in a fast‑paced operational environment

Exposure to process improvement or efficiency initiatives within an operational setting

Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure, manage priorities, and resolve operational issues pragmatically

Fluent in Dutch (required); English is a strong advantage, both spoken and written
