Job summary CACEIS is the asset servicing banking group of Crédit Agricole, offering services covering execution, clearing, forex, securities lending, custody, depositary and fund administration, among others. We are seeking a Financial Lawyer based in Montreal, Canada, to provide legal services for Canadian operations and support common‑law jurisdictions.The role includes advising on commercial, regulatory and corporate matters, drafting and negotiating agreements, and supporting local and group‑level governance.

Responsibilities

Advise the Canadian business (Québec‑based) on commercial, regulatory and corporate matters.

Draft, review and negotiate agreements with internal clients.

Support local governance and corporate filings.

Review and negotiate contracts governed by common‑law frameworks for designated jurisdictions (e.g., Malaysia, United States, Jersey).

Coordinate with external counsel and internal stakeholders across those jurisdictions.

Provide clear guidance on cross‑border risk, documentation requirements and internal approval processes.

Assist with ad‑hoc group/global projects and support global policy rollouts, regulatory projects and internal governance initiatives.

Act as a point of contact for colleagues in other branches and subsidiaries.

Identify legal and regulatory risks relevant to the business and provide practical, business‑oriented solutions in a multi‑jurisdictional environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor or equivalent degree.

Qualified lawyer in Canada (Québec bar or common‑law bar; dual qualification preferred).

6-10 years of post‑qualification experience in commercial, regulatory or financial services work.

4–7 years of experience in drafting, negotiating and reviewing agreements.

Strong drafting and negotiation skills in English and French.

Experience working across multiple jurisdictions or with cross‑border matters.

Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver clear, pragmatic advice.

Ability to work independently while collaborating within an international legal team.

Excellent communication skills in both French and English.
