New: board position secretary Gilde Wageningen

Due to expiring terms of office, this vacancy has arisen. We are looking for a secretary:

Background Gilde Wageningen was founded in 1987. Its mission is to make knowledge and expertise available to residents of Wageningen free of charge.

Gilde consists of approximately 100 volunteers spread over 4 lively self‑directed activities, each with its own coordinator.

Gilde Samenspraak

( volunteers speak with migrants to teach them the Dutch language )

Coach4you

( volunteers support individual first‑year high school students )

Guided tours

( expert guides show people around the city and floodplains )

Partner in Digital House

( volunteers support people with language, arithmetic and digital skills )

The board The management tasks can be called light because the 4 activities function independently and well.

We meet 4 to 5 times a year, always in the Museum de Casteelse Poort. The coordinators are there twice a year.

In addition, there are a number of other consultations in which we always consider together who can participate:

regional consultation (once a year)

Welsaam board meeting (twice a year)

festive gathering with all Guild volunteers (once a year).

Role of secretary:

draw up an agenda in collaboration with the chairman

taking and distributing minutes

compile annual report

There is plenty of room for personal input and initiative.

Guilds contribute to the cement in Dutch society. Hundreds of members volunteer to improve the local living, working and learning environment. They do this in all sorts of ways. For example, with city walks, bike rides, lectures, courses, giving language lessons to low-literates and non-native speakers. But each Guild is completely free to start projects themselves.
